Michael Setton Dr. Michael Setton is CEO and founder of Sensaris, a company developing wireless sensors since 2001. The company which received several awards is now a leading provider for Internet of Things devices and services. Its products for environmental monitoring and mHealth are used in over 20 countries. It won the Bluetooth Innovation World Cup 2011 in the Automotive and Entertainment category. |
Jan Blom Jan Blom is a User Experience Researcher at Nokia Research Center Lausanne. His research focuses on translating data collected through personal and environmental sensors to tangible user experiences. His recent projects have focused on urban air quality monitoring, as well as on contextual, location based services. Prior to joining NRC-Lausanne, Jan was based in India, ramping up a research team focusing on emerging markets services. He has a ten years’ background with Nokia. Jan comes with a PhD in HCI. He has published widely in the domain of mobile user experiences. He features in more than 20 service related patents filed by Nokia. |
Eric Picker Eric Picker is a consultant to businesses, municipalities and regional authorities seeking to put in place automated water quality measurement and management systems based on active sensing products and services. In 1999 Picker founded ACTYS to build, deploy and support fully automated systems for continuous, remote clean and waste water treatment. ACTYS deployed over 100 systems across Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. ACTYS also provides training for water facility staff, maintenance and service on a wide range of automatic treatment technologies. From 1990-1999, Picker was system designer, sales and service director in several systems integration firms distributing automated environmental management technologies including VIRBAC, ESCOTA, PECHINEY, and IBM. |

Olivier Thyes Olivier Thyes is a senior product manager at Swisscom and holds a master’s degree in communication systems from ETH Lausanne. He is responsible for corporate M2M products, including connectivity services and location based services. Olivier has worked at Swisscom for 11 years and has been involved in various strategic topics, including IPTV (Swisscom TV), Mobile TV, automotive solutions and M2M. |
