The community of people seeking to advance work towards open and interoperable AR will meet on July 23 and 24, 2012 as the guests of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Those planning to participate in the AR Standards community meeting should review the documentation of the first meeting,  second meeting, third meeting, fourth meeting, and fifth meeting. Review of the past position papers and joining the mailing lists for the community are highly recommended.

Position Papers

In addition to the invited speaker presentations and moderated plenary collaborations, contributions to the community may be made in advance of the meeting in the form of position papers. To submit position papers, please follow the guidelines. The deadline for submissions has passed, however, late contributions can be sent to the chair. Consideration will be given to these by the program committee when preparing the final agenda.

Meeting Goals

The face-to-face meetings are designed to promote the discussion between stakeholders of the ecosystem for the development of open and interoperable AR content and experiences.

If you are a developer of Augmented Reality tools, a developer of AR experiences or publisher of information you would like others to see or hear synchronized with the physical world, there will be numerous benefits for you.

During the two day meeting, you will work side by side with AR industry leaders and SDO Work Group chairs to:

Augmented Reality developers encountering obstacles to reach and adoption as a result of proprietary technology "silos" will be particularly encouraged to attend in order to learn about the open specifications and APIs under development, and to provide your opinions. AR developers participating in the community are on the front lines to learn about and influence the direction of new tools.

All community members are invited to suggest topics for the agenda via submission of position papers.
