The community of people seeking to advance work towards open and interoperable AR met on March 24-25, 2015 in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA).
- The final meeting agenda page contains links to those presentations we have permission to release.
- For additional background, also visit the meeting pre-reading and position papers page.
Meeting Goals
The face-to-face community meetings are designed to promote discussion among ecosystem stakeholders for the development of open and interoperable AR content and experiences.
We will receive updates about standards under development from Standards Development Organization spokespeople and work group chairs including but not limited to:
– W3C
– Khronos Group
– IEEE Standards Association
– Open Geospatial Consortium
– MIPI Alliance
– NISO
– OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) TC
In community-defined and led sessions, our goals are to:
- Discover new barriers to interoperability and discuss strategies to minimize their impacts
- Learn of continuing and newly initiated activities relevant to open and interoperable AR
- Discuss emerging challenges which may be addressed via standards or open source interfaces
- Plan for the community's future by reviewing existing activities, chartering new work and scheduling meetings
Augmented Reality developers participating in the community are on the front lines to learn about and influence the direction of new tools. Developers encountering obstacles to audience reach and end user adoption as a result of proprietary technology silos are encouraged to attend to learn about the open specifications and APIs under development, and to provide their opinions.
All community members are invited to suggest topics for the agenda via submission of position papers.
Position Papers
In addition to speaker presentations and moderated plenary collaborations, contributions to the AR Community may be made in advance of the meeting in the form of position papers. Submitters are requested to follow published guidelines for position papers.
