—————————–
The community of people seeking to advance work towards open and interoperable AR will meet on March 26-27, 2014 in Arlington, VA.
Meeting Goals
The face-to-face community meetings are designed to promote the discussion among ecosystem stakeholders for the development of open and interoperable AR content and experiences. During the meeting on March 26, we will work side by side with AR industry leaders and SDO Work Group chairs to:
- learn the status of activities and discuss progress in all relevant standards development organizations, including
- learn the status of the Mixed and Augmented Reality Reference Model
- continue development of the community resources including but not limited to the following topics:
- AR use cases and scenarios
- AR glossary of terms
- AR Standards landscape and status of each SDO’s activities in the area of AR
- Hands-free display and context capture system requirements and standards, and
- AR Interoperability requirements, experimental methodology and testing procedures
- discuss emerging challenges which may be addressed via standards or open source interfaces.
Augmented Reality developers participating in the community are on the front lines to learn about and influence the direction of new tools. The developers encountering obstacles to audience reach and end user adoption as a result of proprietary technology “silos” are encouraged to attend to learn about the open specifications and APIs under development, and to provide their opinions.
All community members are invited to suggest topics for the agenda via submission of position papers.
Position Papers
In addition to the invited speaker presentations and moderated plenary collaborations, contributions to the AR Community may be made in advance of the meeting in the form of position papers. Submitters are requested to follow published guidelines for position papers. The position papers and recommended reading for the previous community meeting are available on this page.
To Participate in the AR Community Meeting
